Leave & Employee Support
Resources and support for time away from work, including leave options, medical and family leave, and workplace-related incidents.
The Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA) provides eligible employees with job-protected leave for qualifying medical and family reasons. Employees may be eligible for unpaid leave with continuation of certain benefits. FMLA is administered in accordance with federal regulations.
Employees are encouraged to contact Human Resources to determine eligibility and begin the leave request process.
BA436 – Family Medical Leave Policy (FMLA)
Workers’ Compensation coverage is provided to WNMU employees in accordance with the State of New Mexico’s Workers’ Compensation Act. Employees who experience a work-related injury or illness may be eligible for medical and, in some cases, wage-related benefits.
Employees are encouraged to report injuries promptly to Human Resources to ensure timely access to benefits and support.

Faculty & Staff Mustang ID Card
As a WNMU Employee (Faculty and Staff), you can enjoy many privileges around campus such as:
- CREC: Access to all of WNMU’s Fitness centers such as the Saltwater Pool, Gym, Climbing Wall, & Racquetball/Pickleball Courts.
- Dining Hall: $3 meals M-F during normal semester hours. **1 meal per meal period (Breakfast/Lunch/Dinner) and money must be loaded to Faculty/Staff Meals**
- WNMU Bookstore: 10% discounts
- Miller Library: Use your Mustang Card to access all books, e-books, articles, and apps.
- Media Technologies Services: Show your Mustang Card to check out everything from tripods to laptops.
- Athletic Events: Admission to Football, Basketball, Volleyball, and Softball Games. (Employee ticket +1)
- Fine Arts Center Theatre (FACT) and Light Hall Theater: Both are home to many performances during the year, from community productions to national artists; ticket prices vary per event. WNMU Cultural Affairs presentations are free to staff with Mustang Card.
- WNMU Museum: Receive a discount at the Annual Holiday Sale.
